Following the recent launch of the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R in India and internationally, the OnePlus 13 has now received its first software update.
This update brings several previously announced features that were missing during the handset’s initial review, along with significant improvements in camera performance, stability, and overall system performance. It also includes the December 2024 Android security patch and visual updates to certain UI elements. The update, with the version number CPH2649_15.0.0.402(EX01), is 988MB in size and is rolling out to users who have already received their devices. The OnePlus 13 officially went on sale in India on January 10.
Key Features in the Update
The most notable feature added in this update is the previously announced Touch to Share functionality, designed for easier content transfer between OnePlus and iOS devices. A new “Share with iPhone” button is now available in the notification tray toggles, which allows users to instantly make their content shareable to iOS devices. However, iOS users will still need to install the O+ Connect app for the feature to function properly.
The update also brings a range of connectivity improvements, including optimized IPv6 support over Wi-Fi, enhanced Bluetooth stability, and better overall network performance.
Camera Improvements and Enhancements
The camera app is one of the biggest beneficiaries of this update. New features include additional camera styles and the ability to personalize watermarks. Furthermore, the update enhances preview clarity in Portrait and Photo modes, as well as improving the quality of 4K videos shot at 60 fps. A particularly important fix addresses the color tone disparity between the main and telephoto cameras, an issue highlighted in the review.
Another significant addition is the Live Alerts feature, which now displays as a Dynamic Island-like bubble. This can show information such as the phone’s charging status, both when plugged in and when charging wirelessly.
Other Updates and AI Features
The update also introduces AI-powered features in Google Messages. After updating the app from the Play Store, users can access the new Magic Compose feature, which works entirely on-device following an AI Core update.
There are also several minor visual updates, including a new 1×2 Weather widget, an improved step tracker, and a more refined Storage cleaner widget. Additionally, the Wallpapers & Style section now includes a new two-tone theme in its Colors selection.
With these updates, the OnePlus 13 continues to refine its user experience, enhancing both performance and functionality for its growing user base.
